March 6: Landmark Caravaggio Exhibition in Connecticut



The Wadsworth Atheneum Museum in Hartford, Connecticut will be the second venue for an important exhibition on the Italian baroque painter Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio. Shown at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art as Bodies and Shadows: Caravaggio and His Legacy, the exhibition will be titled Burst of Light: Caravaggio and His Legacy, when it is on view at the Wadsworth Atheneum from March 6 through June 16.

Burst of Light: Caravaggio and His Legacy features five works by Caravaggio himself and nearly thirty works by his most prominent followers, known as the "Caravaggisti." Among the painters represented are Gentileschi, Saraceni, Riminaldi, Ribera, Zurbarán, and Sweerts.
